Collector Deno Andrews ordered this cue from Paul Drexler after seeing a Paul Drexler cue being used by George Fels at Chris's Billiards. George's cue had similar points going both up and down the cue. Andrews called Drexler and told him he wanted a cue with two-way points. He also wanted to the cue to be much fancier than Fels's. Several months later, this cue was delivered to Andrews.
The cue's base wood is spalted maple. The spliced points have four veneers- black, maple, blue, purple, and the points themselves are ivory along with everything else on the cue that is white. Originally the wood between the points by design was to be ivory, but during the design process, Andrews decided that it would look too white with all that ivory, asked Drexler to place wood there instead. Andrews suggested that with so much white in the points, that if spalted maple was used, it may appear darker because of the contrast. Drexler concurred and picked out a piece of burl that was slightly lighter in color. At first glance, the wood appears to be the same, which was the intent of that choice in woods. The cue has a radial pin joint, ivory ferrules, Moori tips, and two shafts. |
